RAID

Over the past few years we have seen our clients data storage needs grow at exponential rates - commonly increasing 50-100% year-on-year.
Mach One can provide a storage solution to meet your needs with RAID subsystems ranging from 5 bay 5TB Firewire 800 attached devices right up to 24bay fibre attached devices packing an enormous 125TB of storage per enclosure. RAID subsystems are also available with iSCSI interfaces, perfect for data replication and backup solutions.
Whatever solution Mach One provides, you will have the peace of mind that your data is safe. |

Back-Up Solutions

In a graphics environment where file sizes are large, removable media back-up is a must. Copies can be kept off site for the purpose of disaster recovery (fire, flood, theft), period ends can be archived, files deleted in error can be restored - Tape is still the best for backup.
Mach One will consult and plan your back-up solution. There are many variables to consider when doing this including volume of data, timing of each back-up, and what a lot of people forget, acceptable downtime in the case of total hardware failure.
“You must safeguard your own or anyone else's data, by appropriate precautions against loss, corruption or unauthorized disclosure” - Data Protection Act, 1998

Xsan

It enables dozens of systems on the SAN to read and write to shared storage simultaneously, unlike other solutions which gate access at the volume level. Over and above that, using a SAN lets you pool data across multiple RAID devices for better performance, while each client uses this centralised data as if connected directly to it.
Xsan storage networking eliminates the bottlenecks of Ethernet-based network file servers, whose performance will only get worse over time as denser formats such as HD become more common. In theory an Xsan client can achieve a throughput of 400MBps when dual fibre channel cabled to the SAN, perfect for multiple editors working on a video project or a compute cluster that needs fast access to data to ensure each node crunches at full capacity.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

The mains supply of electricity is often unreliable. There are many power cuts, brown outs and power surges, and expensive high-end equipment tends to be more sensitive to these fluctuations.
A UPS in its simplest form (off-line or standby) provides a battery back-up that trips in when there is a power cut (primary power from mains supply). Mach One only supplies the superior online UPS type that has the battery as its primary power source so there is no time lag when the battery trips in, it also cleans the power supply to ensure a constant supply and maximise the life of the hardware it protects.
Mach One can supply 500VA units for a single workstation right upto 20KVa units with additional battery packs for complete Comms Room support for extended power cuts. Higher spec units can be coupled with a software package that automatically performs a safe shut down of hardware before the battery back-up runs out. |
