The speed is achieved by having PCIe connectivity from point to point, which means that the RAID controller is connected via a PCIe bridge straight into the heart of the host. Normally, connectivity between a host and the storage system is achieved via a Fibre Channel or a SCSI host bus adapter, which prevents the storage system and the host from delivering the speeds that they are capable of. By removing this bottleneck United Digital has created its most powerful storage solution to date. |
